I created Fink Twohammer about ten years ago because I kept wondering: what if the dwarf wasn’t the fearless hero?

In most fantasy stories, the dwarf is the dependable backup. I wanted to follow the guy who survives by avoiding glorious last stands. A scoundrel. A con artist. Someone who sometimes does the right thing, but not always for the right reasons.

This comic, Dwarfed: A ROC and a Hard Place, is about eight years old now. Looking back, I can see just how much I’ve grown as a storyteller and an artist. If nothing else, it convinced me that I should probably never letter my own comics again.

But I’m still proud of it because it’s where Fink really found his voice.

I’ve got more stories planned for him, and one day I’d love to revisit this world with everything I’ve learned since then. Until then, I hope you enjoy meeting one of my oldest creations. Enjoy!

Today I get to ease back into drawing, and I'm excited to get back to the work I owe people—and the work I've been wanting to do for myself. After a little more than three weeks dealing with this injury, I spent a lot of time doing something I almost never slow down long enough to do: looking back.

I went through years of characters, stories, sketches, and comics. Somewhere in all of that, things started to click into place. The forced pause gave me the chance to organize where I want to go next and, more importantly, what I want to start sharing here.

One project kept rising to the top.

Dwarfed.

It's the story of Fink Two-Hammer, a dwarf living in a classic fantasy world. Think tabletop RPGs, dungeon crawls, monsters, treasure, and adventuring parties.

The only problem?

Fink wants absolutely nothing to do with heroes.

If he spots someone who looks even remotely heroic, he's headed the other direction. He's not interested in saving kingdoms or slaying dragons. He's in it for the loot, the con, and whatever keeps him alive long enough to spend his gold.

Starting next week, I'll be sharing a short Dwarfed story, with colors by Rolands, to kick everything off. From there, I've already got scripts in the hands of artists, and I have a lot more planned for this little world.

These stories will be part of the paid tier, and if all goes according to plan, this is just the beginning for Fink Two-Hammer.

I can't wait to finally introduce you to him.
