Chapter Four
Anna was an angel. She knew it every time she looked in the mirror. Even as a kid, she could tell her face was made for the silver screen. At nineteen, she had been given the lead in Oklahoma!, and when she brought the house down, she knew it was time to go.
It was the way a baby bird knew it was time to fly from the nest.
It was a coin flip for most of her friends who went down the theater path at that level: New York or L.A.? But in her heart of hearts, it wasn’t the stage Anna longed for. It was the screen. To be projected twenty feet tall. To be worshiped by a willing crowd.
She felt she had no ego about it. It was simply a matter of fact. The same way a man built a certain way, with broad shoulders and big arms, could become a football player, she felt destined. God had given her certain attributes, and she was thankful. She wasn’t going to waste them.
So she hitched a ride.
